John Adams Stump Speech
I am a viable choice to become next year’s president. I was considered as one of the best Boston lawyers, and I also served as George Washington’s vice president. In addition, I will do as well as the present day leader because I connect very well with current events. I was one of the first representatives for the civil rights of other races, and my wife, Abigail Adams, was the first feminist figurehead. When I am a president, America will have a First Lady that will impact our country in a positive way. We will have the opportunity to finally insure domestic tranquility with racial equality. I also believe that I can do a better job than my predecessor and my successor.
I believe that our government should be strong and mighty. We need to build a well designed and organized government to protect the citizens of America. We will strengthen our army and navy by increasing taxes for the common defense. But with power, we must still remain neutral in conflicts. I made sure that in the Napoleonic Wars that we would avoid war. We must repeat what we successfully did.
Although I believe that we should remain neutral, treaties should be treated with respect. Unfortunately, the government did not agree with my reasonable thoughts in the case of the Native-American treaties. I believed we should have bought the land, instead of stripping Natives away from their lands. This costed me a bunch of Southern and Western supporters. But I will not be bribed with power, as the president must always create fair decisions.
I believe that as president, what I can do for this country will be best for you. I believe that, as a country, we can improve, and I believe that I can help us do it. We must follow our sacred document, the Constitution of the United States to become the finest we can be.
I have walked throughout America - I have talked to the people of the United States. We are approaching a period of economic recession. This abrupt halt in our economic growth has been at the magnitude not seen since the Great Depression. However, when I speak to Americans, I do not see an acceptance of defeat. I see the will to persevere in their eyes and in their words. We are Americans, we are the brave, the strong, the courageous. As Americans, we persevere, we live, and we defend our country. As Americans, we are collectively saying, “We are Americans! This is not how our America will work! We will save our country!”. And I can help you do that.
This country is truly great - too great to hand over to a mediocre president. I co-created the Constitution itself. I am the one who helped it get ratified. I created a mighty and great government, and I have led our country to glory.
